General Manager Power Systems
Based in Christchurch, Greg McCarthy has more than 30 years of experience with New Zealand’s Cat dealer. After leaving school, Greg started his career at Gough Cat in 1988 and completed his heavy diesel apprenticeship.
After a short stint working for Doug Hood Ltd at the Macraes Flat gold mine, and overseas experience in the United Kingdom, he returned to Goughs in 1994. In 2002, Greg moved away from the tools to run the Technical Services department. Over the years, he progressed to General Manager of Product Support.
In 2018, he joined the Power Systems division, taking on responsibility for teams installing and commissioning major electric power projects and Caterpillar commercial engine sales. These include electric power generation, marine and industrial engine products, gas engines, rail products and renewable hybrid power solutions.
While not at work, Greg enjoys spending time with his wife in the great outdoors, and fly fishing around the South Island.
